The name of the Andean language family that includes Aymara
, Jaqaru
and Cauqui. The languages are spoken in southern Peru, south western Bolivia and northern Chile. Cauqui and Jaqaru are spoken in Peru east of Lima in Cachuy and Tupe. Aymara proper is spoken along the shores of Lake Titicaca spreading north, south and east of the lake. The majority of the speakers are found in Bolivia. The current Bolivian president, Evo Morales, is a member of the Aymara ethnic group and an Aymara speaker.
